I also look at this in terms of entertainment cost per hour. If you pay $25 for a book and it takes you 10 hours to read it, that's two-fifty an hour. Books make for the best cheap entertainment. (Lovely story about meeting your wife)

I agree with both sentiments from Martin. I'm a debut author and I can tell you how disheartening it is to see my title pirated all over the internet for free. Folks seem to think entertainment should be free--they look at the artists and writers who are bestsellers (and their publishers) and figure they aren't hurting for money. But it's the midlist and beginning writers who are getting pummeled in this game. But I'm not telling you anything you don't already know. Love your blog.
