Writing is the most difficult thing I've ever done. I decided to take out all the backstory and introspection, entered the first 50 pages of my romantic suspense in the Killer Nashville contest this year and was a top 10 finalist. The editor who judged the 10 met with me and said she really wanted to see more introspection, etc. :) Hard to know how much of ANYTHING to have in the first three chapters. Any suggestions?
