This all started with Donna Tartt's The Goldfinch. My wife read it and said what everyone else is saying, "What a magnificent book, but 200 pages too long."
That brings me to the question of the day: Can anyone name a 500+ page book that is NOT at least 100-200 pages too long?
I read and liked Kate Atkinson's LIFE AFTER LIFE. But 100 pages too long.
I read and liked Ken Follett's PILLARS OF THE EARTH. But 200 pages too long.
So ... if you can name a 500-page book that sustains your interest for 500 pages, please hit the comment button and share the author and title.
